CHIEF EXECUTIVE - CONSTRUCTION PLANT-HIRE ASSOCIATION (CPA)

Construction plant is critical to the success of the UK: all aspects of the economy rely on efficient and modern infrastructure and construction. To build the future of Britain, construction plant is continually evolving and facing new and enlarged challenges - for skilled workers, for maximum productivity, and pragmatic and sustainable decarbonisation.

The UK construction plant-hire industry is the best established and most professional in the world, and is worth over £5 billion to the UK economy. The leading membership and representative body in this sector is now looking for a Chief Executive to take up the position in mid-2024.

The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) has circa 1,900 members, ranging from owner operators with a single machine, right through to the largest companies in the industry, with hire fleets of thousands of machines. Together, CPA members supply at least 85% of hired plant to the construction industry.

To serve this industry, the Association employs a team of permanent, experienced staff based at the CPA headquarters in London but operating throughout the UK. Established for over 80 years, the Association is governed by a Council of Members, who represent plant-hire companies of all types and sizes throughout the country.

The ideal candidate for the role of Chief Executive will be a confident and confidence-inspiring leader, who can work with CPA Council and the small team of experienced staff to further develop services for members, and help the sector to tackle market and legislative challenges. Experience in both the Plant-hire and Trade Association sectors would be advantageous.

The role offers a competitive salary, plus wider benefits including life insurance, private healthcare and contributory pension.

The post will require a presence at the CPA office in the City of London, travel to meetings throughout the UK, and online meetings, all as required to meet the objectives of the role.
