We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Commercial Manager to join our team in London. This role is crucial for overseeing and optimizing Assala Energy’s commercial strategy, ensuring that our activities and agreements are aligned with the company’s operational and financial objectives. In this capacity, you will work in close collaboration with the Commercial team based in Gabon and will manage key petroleum license documents, hydrocarbon transportation and processing contracts, and liaise with JV partners, while also identifying new opportunities to enhance portfolio value and efficiency.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to enhance profitability and align with company objectives.
  • Lead contract management for petroleum agreements, ensuring favorable terms and legal compliance.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships for effective communication and collaboration.
  • Identify and leverage synergies with partners to drive joint ventures and collaborative opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and risk assessments to optimize commercial strategies and protect value.
  • Improve operational efficiency by implementing best practices in commercial operations.
  • Engage in joint ventures and government relations to represent and advance company interests.
  • Assist in dispute resolution in collaboration with the legal team to safeguard the company’s position.
  • Ensure compliance and governance in all commercial activities, adhering to industry standards and internal policies.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a senior commercial role within the Oil & Gas industry, with a proven track record of managing commercial operations and strategic partnerships.
  • A solid understanding of the Oil & Gas sector, including market dynamics, financial analysis, and valuation methodologies.
  • Proven experience in negotiating petroleum licenses, crude transportation, and storage agreements, securing commercially advantageous terms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively assess risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and writing skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in both English and French at a professional level
