Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator with emphasis on Conceptual experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for construction projects during the early conceptual phases, ensuring that our proposals align with client expectations and project requirements.
The Construction Estimator will also be responsible for analyzing construction blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects. The position will assist in leading estimating efforts, and will provide input on process improvements to support project planning goals and initiative.
- Demonstrate conceptual estimating proficiency in the scope review process, subcontractor knowledge, information of On-Screen Takeoff and estimating software platforms, including interiors estimating.
- Full understanding of current and historical data to anticipate cost demands before beginning work on a project. Realistic planning to accommodate potential cost overruns that could occur throughout the build.
- Ability to fully design a preliminary estimate to ensure that the build aligns with budget expectations and resource availability.
- Depth of knowledge regarding technical specifications and pricing levels.
- Meet deadline challenges with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Work in conjunction with the bid team to prepare accurate bid proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to Project Managers in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required. Assure clean handoff of estimate, bidding information, drawings, specifications, etc. to project management team.
- Providing accurate costing; proactively offering creative solutions for the team; and understanding our client’s business.
- Develop conceptual estimates based on limited information and preliminary design details.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, and Engineers to gather information and refine estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assess labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to clients, articulating the cost structure and value proposition.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, pricing, and economic factors affecting the construction industry.
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
- Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.
- Provide input on project feasibility and assist in decision-making regarding project viability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Business, Finance or a related job field.
- 5-10 years of work experience in construction or related job field or equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.
- Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents
- Thorough understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices and legal regulations.
- Must have conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner and/or architect requirements.
- Well organized, excellent communication, strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret construction drawings.
- Strong computer knowledge across Microsoft 365.

- Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 dependent upon experience.
