Simon & Schuster (S&S) seeks a Manager, Digital Marketing and Social Media to help ideate, produce, deploy and analyze a range of campaigns across our Corporate Marketing channels.

This role also calls for someone with a discerning editorial eye and community building mindset to inspire book lovers, influencers and everyday people to turn to S&S as the publisher of must-read books in every genre. 

As a key member of the Corporate Marketing team, you’ll drive the social media strategy for our corporate social channels and collaborate across all S&S imprints to help increase book sales, audience growth and author awareness via organic social media. In this role you’ll not only ideate and produce compelling editorial content but leverage your skills to develop strategies that positively impact business goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a love for books, a collaborative spirit and a strong understanding of the social media landscape (particularly TikTok, Instagram and social shops). This role requires someone with 3+ years of marketing and social media experience with a record of creating engaging and innovative content that inspires audiences to discover, share and purchase.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to S&S’s audience and revenue growth by conceiving and executing multitouch digital marketing and social media campaigns
  • Managing the ideation, creation, deployment and analysis of content across S&S’s corporate social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest) via platforms like Sprout Social, Airtable and in-app natively
  • Developing and producing dynamic, trendy and engaging static and video content both in coordination with the S&S video/design teams and independently (familiarity with editing apps like Capcut, Canva, TikTok, and similar platforms a must)
  • Monitoring and actively participating in conversations across our social media channels to foster a positive and supportive community
  • Addressing any negative sentiments or crisis situations in a timely and empathetic manner, escalating issues to the appropriate internal teams if necessary
  • Leveraging brand advocates/influencers to share user-generated content and testimonials to boost awareness of S&S, its imprints and books
  • Creating, distributing and presenting social media analytics and reporting—highlighting audience growth, engagement and ecommerce sales attribution
  • Advising Imprints and authors on establishing and growing their online presence, as needed
  • Working closely with the S&S corporate and digital marketing groups, including the email, website, video, design, events, advertising, multicultural, communications/publicity and academic teams to amplify tentpole campaigns and projects via social
  • Cultivating strategic promotional partnerships and helping to develop S&S’s corporate influencer marketing program
  • Reporting on new social media and digital marketing trends, insights and best-practices

Preferred candidates should have: 

  • 3+ years of marketing experience in book publishing or related industry
  • Experience managing social media content creation, deployment and analysis (a history of drive awareness for TiKTok and Meta Shops a plus)
  • Knowledge of content and video editing tools including: Canva, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, etc
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and versatile to handle a range of projects
  • An interest in, and understanding of, the ever-evolving social media landscape
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as needed 
  • A love of books

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
