A quick look at the role

The Digital Sales Manager will focus on all digital sales journeys and channels for our Industrial and Collections business and will also support the Specialist Services business with developing online sales journeys for Hazardous waste. You will be responsible for leading Biffa’s digital sales strategy, leveraging online channels to drive revenue growth and enhance customer engagement. You will collaborate closely with the rest of digital marketing, Telesales, Pricing and Propositions, the Digital Product Owners, IT, and other sales teams to optimize our digital sales funnel, improve conversion rates, and identify new online business opportunities.

Your core responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a digital sales strategy aligned with Biffa’s business objectives, that also informs the eCommerce / Websites Product strategy (led by the eCommerce and Website Digital Product Owners).
  • Manage and optimise Biffa’s e-commerce platforms, online sales channels, and lead generation tools to maximize revenue for our Industrial and Commercial business, and to support Haz sales for Specialist Services.
  • Drive conversion rate optimization (CRO) by enhancing the digital user experience, analysing customer behaviour, and implementing data-driven improvements to drive increased leads into Telesales as well as increased conversion of leads to sales online.
  • Work closely with other members of the digital marketing team to align digital campaigns with sales objectives, improve digital lead generation, and increase conversion across all points of the funnel.
  • Work with Digital Marketing teams to utilise SEO, PPC, Paid Social and digital advertising to increase online visibility and inbound sales.
  • Monitor KPIs, daily / weekly sales performance, and digital analytics, to take action to correct underperformance or capitalise on new opportunities, as well as insights and recommendations for future growth. 
  • Lead website and digital platform optimisation to enhance the user journey and improve conversion rates, working with the Digital Product Owners for eCommerce and Websites to (i) identify new features and functionality for the backlog and to (ii) create the business and prioritisation case for the new features and functionality.
  • Ensure a frictionless checkout and lead generation process, identifying both quick wins and opportunities for larger developments
  • Identify Personalisation strategies and work with Digital Product Owners to implement personalisation capability (if required) to tailor the online digital sales experience based on customer segments and behaviours.
  • Work closely with offline sales teams to ensure a seamless omnichannel experience, integrating digital and traditional sales efforts for a unified customer journey

Our essential requirements

  • 3 years demonstrable experience in digital sales, ecommerce with accountability for sales and revenue
  • Experience of driving conversion rate optimisation (CRO) by analysing customer behaviour, testing improvements, and refining the digital sales funnel
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce Mobile/web platforms both for lead generation and online sales
  • Experience of digital marketing strategies, including SEO, PPC, digital Advertising, and email marketing
  • Hands-on experience with A/B testing and analytics tools
