THE ROLE

Carwow - Sell My Car is seeking an experienced and visionary Transport Director to build and lead a transport service that facilitates a seamless movement of cars from sellers to dealers' across the UK, Germany, and Spain. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in the automotive industry and logistics, particularly in car movements, who has successfully built services from the ground up.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive transport strategy for moving cars efficiently across the UK, Germany, and Spain
  • Service Design: Design and build the transport service, including appraisal and inspection process, selection of transport methods, routes, and partnerships with logistics providers
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing transport team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Operational Control: Oversee day-to-day transport operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective car movements, compliance with regulations, and exceptional customer and dealer service
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve transport processes, leveraging technology and data to optimise performance
  • Supplier Management: Establish and manage relationships with transport companies, negotiating contracts and service levels to ensure reliability and cost efficiency
  • P&L Management: Manage the transport budget and P&L, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are allocated effectively

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Minimum of 10 years in the automotive industry and logistics, with a focus on car movements
  • Proven experience in building and leading transport or logistics services from scratch with the ability to take our offering from 0-1-20
  • Experience building and leveraging tech solutions partnering with Product teams
  • Deep understanding of the automotive markets in the UK, Germany, and Spain
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
