The Marketing & Communications Specialist drives content strategy, digital storytelling, and brand development at St. Luke’s School. Responsibilities include creating impactful messaging across platforms, managing social media strategy and growth, overseeing marketing projects, and supporting crisis communications. This full-time, 12-month role reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and requires strong writing, editing, social media, and project management skills to foster community engagement.
Primary Job Responsibilities: Strategic Content Planning and Tracking
- Develop and manage a comprehensive quarterly content calendar, including emails, social media posts, web stories, public relations, and brand reputation initiatives.
- Track and analyze communication effectiveness using engagement and open rates metrics to refine ROI strategies.
Media Management and Growth
- Strategically manage and grow the organization’s social media presence, creating content highlighting programs, events, and community stories.
- Leverage analytics to identify high-impact content opportunities and adjust strategies to optimize results.
- Stay attuned to trends and emerging platforms to ensure SLS remains at the forefront of digital storytelling.
Writing, Content Creation, and Copyediting
- Create content tailored to varied audiences and platforms, including the website, social media, digital newsletters, and news outlets.
- Identify and craft compelling, brand-defining stories to fuel internal and public relations efforts, leveraging St. Luke’s extensive photo and video archives.
- Develop thought leadership pieces for blog posts and news outlets to elevate the organization’s voice and authority.
Project & Budget Management
- Oversee the creation of marketing materials in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Manage the department budget processes, including invoice tracking and expenditure reporting.
Crisis Communication
- Serve as a key contributor to crisis communication strategies, drawing on expertise to provide timely, thoughtful, and effective messaging during urgent situations.
- Support the development of protocols and materials that enhance readiness for future challenges.
Key Skills & Qualities
- 5 or more years of experience in branding, social media strategy, or a related field
- An experienced content creator, coordinator, and strategist
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with a commitment to professionalism.
- Builds relationships and culture through effective communication
- Strong cultural competency skills, with demonstrated commitment to furthering the creation of an equitable and inclusive school community that supports a strong sense of belonging
- Preferred
- Understanding of AI applications for marketing efficiency
- Familiarity with Blackbaud and Hubspot
- Knowledge of crisis communication best practices
