The Marketing Team at MoMA brings together specialists in marketing and channel strategies, content and audience development, driven by finding new ways to bring the Museum’s mission and brand positioning to life and by building meaningful relationships with new and existing priority audiences for the institution. Through this work we are able to support the financial sustainability of MoMA by strengthening the earned revenue streams of the Museum.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing, the Marketing Manager develops, implements, and executes strategic marketing plans in support of Museum-wide audience development and revenue goals.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Supports the delivery of MoMA’s audience strategy through marketing campaigns and audience development initiatives.
- Develops and executes integrated, results-oriented marketing campaigns in support of MoMA’s revenue goals and audience development strategies.
- Manages advertising campaigns (from media planning and creative development through to execution and launch) across a wide range of channels in the predefined Marketing funnel, including print, OOH, digital, onsite, and broadcast channels.
- Partners with operations, digital, content, and design specialists within the Creative Team to ensure campaigns are executed successfully.
- Supports overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Marketing team, including budget and project management; guaranteeing the flow between Design, Marketing and media agency through project management tools (Asana).
- Manages day-to-day creative, media, and research agency relationships, including contracting and creative trafficking.
- Collaborates with the Membership team to deliver aligned strategy and planning on marketing campaigns to reach revenue targets.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and impact of marketing initiatives and provides actionable recommendations.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above and as required as part of the Marketing Team.
Requirements:
- Five plus years professional experience in marketing, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business management, communications or equivalent degree preferred.
- Proven history of developing successful marketing plans and campaigns.
- Proven project management and multi-tasking skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively under pressure with a wide variety of museum staff and outside agencies.
- High responsiveness and proactiveness.
- Experience and ability to respond to creative work/concepts and manage relationship with Design team and media agencies.
- Creative, innovative thinker with the ability to work independently and proactively.
- High performing problem solver who can clearly articulate ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and offer solutions.
- Data-driven mindset and decision making, including the ability to deploy reports, measurement and results sharing strategies.
- Excellent writing, communication, and building briefings & presentations skills.
- Familiarity with email, ticketing, social media, and digital marketing platform landscape.
- Deep knowledge of Asana or other project management tools.
- Interest and enthusiasm for the work of MoMA and knowledge of art and non-profit cultural world.
Responsibilities & tasks split
- 70% Media & Channel strategy
- Main point of contact for management of the relationship with the paid media agency.
- Marketing funnel lead, defining strategic channel approach (all paid channels) and making sure the team is following clear guidelines for channel presence.
- Working with the Analytics point of contact on reporting and KPIs definitions.
- Supports building newsletter and website strategy (broader Lifecycle strategy).
- Responsible for the channel performance and paid media agency reports.
- Lead the project managing with creative production.
- 30% Marketing Strategy, campaign planning & management
- Management of the relationship with other Marketing partners and vendors.
- Building briefings for Marketing initiatives and streamlining the initiatives as main project manager.
- Supporting the Associate Director in:
- Major campaign strategy definitions and streamlining
- Quarterly and annual strategic planning
- Audience definition + user journey strategy
Reports to: Associate Director, Marketing
Salary range: Minimum of $75,000 to maximum of $90,000 per annum
