Bloomsbury Academic seeks a Marketing Manager to join its growing marketing and publicity department. The ideal candidate will have experience in audience-focused marketing with experience in digital marketing.
The candidate will work closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing, utilizing best practices to create, communicate, and implement marketing campaigns to practitioner audiences across various professional segments. They will independently run marketing campaigns for titles to practitioner audiences to build the Bloomsbury Academic brand and reputation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, creation, and execution of marketing plans for titles for the practitioner market in the US
- Work in close association with marketing, sales, and editorial colleagues to drive growth and brand awareness for these authors, titles, and co-publishers
- Communicate promotional updates and analyses leading up to, during, and after publication to co-publishing partners, editorial colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with the digital marketing team to drive direct-to-consumer and partnership campaigns via the website, email, social media, and other digital channels
- Partner with the marketing team responsible for promoting titles to practitioners as well as faculty
- Create and develop marketing materials that best position our products in the marketplace, support and advance our sales efforts, raise awareness, and drive co-publisher partnership satisfaction
- Understand the competitive landscape and provide insights to support sales and product development
- Travel to conferences to represent the Bloomsbury Academic brand throughout the year (anticipated travel 3-5x year)
- 4+ years of experience in marketing, preferably within academic or professional publishing with an emphasis in digital marketing
- Proven record of implementing best practices related to campaigns, positioning, branding, and driving overall awareness
- A confident, creative, collaborative person with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities
- A self-starter with a proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload
- Proficiency with social media platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience presenting in front of groups including internal meetings and with outside clients
- Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work and demonstrate good follow-up and follow-through
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Location
All candidates must reside within travel distance of the Maryland or New York offices on a hybrid-remote schedule.
Compensation
The anticipated gross base range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience and location.
