Eku Energy is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst to support our rapidly growing global energy storage business. Eku Energy develops, builds, owns and operates grid scale battery storage projects across a number of markets globally including the UK, Italy, Australia and Japan.  

This role is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and driven individual to join the team as the business looks to move to the next phase of growth in becoming a global market leader. As a highly motivated Senior Energy Analyst you will be excited to support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. You will be looking to build upon significant experience and understanding of European power markets gained in an energy market advisor or in an investor, trader and/or operator of renewable assets & batteries.  

Reporting into the EMEA Director of Energy Markets and Technology, within the Technology, Markets and Trading business unit, you will have responsibility for analysing power market fundamentals and forming Eku’s internal revenue view of markets in EMEA. You will build out in-house market & battery dispatch tools and directly support market entry and development decisions along with revenue offtake negotiations and bids. The role will have a strong focus on the core UK, Italian & German markets, and will be based in our London office within a hybrid working environment. 

Responsibilities of the role 

  • Deliver insightful research and analysis on European power market fundamentals  
  • Generate internal view on potential risks, opportunities and value of core and new markets to facilitate transactions & market entry decisions 
  • Develop in-house market and battery dispatch tools to optimise and support Eku’s battery storage investments 
  • Drive revenue-led development and maximise portfolio value & optionality through creation of development briefs, commercial offtake structures and bids 
  • Maintain strong relationships with market advisors and actively build industry networks to deepen market knowledge 
  • Support the team to understand potential impacts of policy and regulatory changes & determine mitigation/optimisation strategies 
  • Collaborate across the global organisation to produce materials for investment committees, support commercial decision making and provide strategic analysis where needed. 

Competencies of the role 

  • You’ve gained 4-6+ years’ experience in power market fundamentals (e.g. in market advisory, trading or renewable investment) 
  • You have a strong understanding of battery revenue streams and trading dynamics 
  • You have proven modelling capabilities with proficiency in Python (or another object-oriented language) and in data analytics/visualisation 
  • You’re highly analytical with a strong ability to convert quantitative analysis into actionable commercial insights 
  • You’re able to work effectively & show initiative in a fast-paced, global and dynamically evolving environment  
  • You’re curious and willing to approach work with a fun and collaborative attitude that supports the team to make a difference in the energy transition  
  • You will ideally be fluent in Italian or German; however, we still want to hear from you even if you aren’t.
