Overview

TE Magnetics is a new business division within Tokamak Energy. We want to usher in the HTS era.

Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of ensuring that magnet systems developed by TE are compliant with the appropriate regulation for the target applications and markets that the systems are being sold into, so that the correct mark (e.g. CE/UKCA/UL/CSA) can be applied to the system.
  • Working with external collaborators and internal teams to ensure the appropriate standards are being applied (e.g. Pressure Directive, Low-Voltage Directive, EMC/EMI directives) in the design phase of the system.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure that the system critical components are correctly certified for the and compliant to the appropriate standard.
  • Taking ownership of the Technical File for magnet systems developed by TE.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure that all the engineering calculations required by the standards/directives are included in the Technical File and are signed off by appropriately qualified people.
  • Ensure magnet development projects stay focussed to deliver against the defined SMART objectives of the project.
  • Liaise with project and program managers as requested.
  • Support commercialisation of the company’s HTS magnet technology.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering or Physics based discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high-technology equipment and complex systems, preferably with magnetic fields, superconducting magnets and cryogenic systems.
  • Experience of designing systems to be supplied to external users/customers.
  • Experience of designing systems for applications, to be installed in facilities owned and run by third parties or customer organisations.
  • Ability to work cross functionally in a collaborative manner as required to support the R&D activities and program delivery.
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation, creativity and project delivery in a complex engineering / technology development environment.
  • Broad engineering experience is desirable, as magnet development work is a highly multidisciplinary field.
  • Salary dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset
