About the role:

Do you have a genuine interest in working for an organisation tackling online harms - from violent extremism and gender-based violence to disinformation and child online exploitation? Do you have experience working in this sector or related sectors and want to develop further?

Moonshot is currently collecting applications for an Insights Manager as part of a new programme of work. The position nor project is currently confirmed, but we anticipate receiving clarification and will update the JD and individuals accordingly. In this role, you will be focused on gathering and analysing open-source data and carrying out aspects of delivery for a specific violent extremism and online harms project. You will also be expected to work to advance our research methodologies and support the strategic understanding of our clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing analysis of diverse forms of data, including OSINT, social media metrics, violent extremist material and data gathered by our in-house specialist software.
  • Developing and sharing subject matter expertise related to violent extremism and online harms across the organisation.
  • Developing new methodologies to improve understanding of violent extremism, misinformation, and other public safety issues.
  • Management of projects, including ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Managing key relationships with clients, partner organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Identification and management of project risks.
  • Leading a small to a medium-sized project team.
  • Supporting our business development by identifying and applying for funding opportunities, building relationships with clients and partner organisations.

Essential:

  • Experience leading social media analysis projects. 
  • Relevant professional or research experience in online harms. 
  • Specialist quantitative skills and/or qualifications in quantitative methods for social science, including data visualisation, database management (SQL), Python, Tableau visualisation or other data analysis tool sets. Python skills in particular, with demonstrated experience in analysing large datasets, will be a distinct advantage.
  • A strong ability to source, interpret and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data, particularly social media or digital marketing data.
  • Demonstrable ability to work under pressure, taking action and getting things done, both in managing your own workload and that of others.
  • Inquisitiveness and adaptability, particularly in relation to new technology and the use of social media for research.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing project teams and client management.
  • Willingness to be on-call and occasionally work outside regular working hours in response to incidents and relevant events.
  • In addition, we require and will check on candidates' eligibility to work in the UK and conduct DBS checks.

Desirable:

  • Fluency in languages other than English particularly Arabic.
  • Professional experience leading projects involving analysis and investigation using open-source research and OSINT methods.
  • Ability to conduct advanced analysis of a wide range of traditional and non-traditional digital platforms.

Salary: £46,000 - £55,000 depending on skills and experience.
