Job Title: Area Director of Sales and Marketing
Location: New York, NY - Hybrid Position
Job Summary: The Area Director of Sales and Marketing has direct oversight of sales operations for two properties within Manhattan. This role has the responsibility to achieve optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting / exceeding hotel profit objectives. This individual will oversee operations of the hotel sales department including, but not limited to, direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, hiring of staff, training, managing and coaching. Additional responsibilities include sales and marketing budget, forecast, advertising, marketing and business plans the hotel; manages within approved plans and budgets.
Exempt associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Sell and promote business across all direct sales segments for two Manhattan based hotels.
- Deliver revenue expectations in line with set individual and team goals and overall hotel budgets.
- Manage and lead a team to achieve hotels' financial goals. Mentor, teach and develop sales professionals to achieve professional growth and goals.
- Analyze market trends, competitive hotels and intelligence tools to strategically layer in business.
- Conduct site tours and entertain clients.
- Responsible for developing quarterly action plans.
- Attend weekly/monthly calls with ownership entities and speak to sales segment performance.
- Organize and attend client and press events and on-site activations.
- Provide weekly, monthly and various reports as requested by the Head of Sales and Marketing.
- Travel for sales calls and events and attend networking functions and trade shows as needed.
- Perform administrative duties and other assignments related to sales and business development
- Actively listen and respond positively to client questions, concerns, and requests.
- Manage third party relationships and marketing efforts when applicable.
- Identify and recommend new ideas, technologies, or processes to increase organizational efficiency, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings.
- Participate in forecast and budget process and P+L meetings as requested.
Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- Previous experience leading sales professionals
- Proven experience generating revenue in one or more hotel direct sales segments: group, business transient and consortia
- Multitask, organize and prioritize tasks on an hourly and daily basis across multiple assets
- Superior communication, presentation and time management skills
- Work cohesively in a team environment
- Work effectively under time constraint- thinking clear and remaining calm
- Work under minimal supervision

Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000 per year
