What’s in it for you?

 As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for executing and reporting on the Ventures marketing and communications strategies and will work closely with the CEO of Octopus Ventures and other senior stakeholders. You’ll get exposure to some of the markets most exciting solutions and see the impact of your work.

The team:

We’re looking for a talented, results-focused marketing and communications professional to build and protect the brand of one of our flagship teams — Octopus Ventures. Reporting into the Senior Communications Manager you will spend your time working with our Ventures business but will be supported by the broader marketing & communications functions, so you will feel like a member of both teams. 

What will you be doing?

You’ll have a number of responsibilities, some of which are:

  • Delivery of a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy for OV, working within group guidelines and to an agreed budget.
  • Ownership of a comprehensive event strategy – plan and execute large and small events both online and offline.
  • Execute a content plan that is built on content pillars. Blog posts are a cornerstone of this deliverable, as well as video content:  a part time copywriter is at your disposal.  
  • Drive a media engagement programme, securing coverage for our Ventures brand in national and key trade media.
  • Execute a social media strategy on LinkedIn, including creating and posting as well as monthly reporting.
  • Community building: work with the investment teams to deliver a community-based strategy around content & events that align to our target audiences

 

Qualifications

✅ Significant marketing and communications experience,   ideally in investment, particularly a VC or PE environment.

✅ Knowledge across marketing, including brand, PR, content, events, community and digital.

✅ Experience managing a proactive and reactive day-to-day press office, with a strong contact book of national and trade media.

✅ Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and able to challenge and advise when required.

✅ Budget management experience.

✅ You must be data-orientated with a strong understanding of marketing analytics.

✅ Fully versed in the latest marketing automation trends and technologies.

✅ Understanding of the start-up ecosystem
