The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Creative
- Devise original and innovative campaigns & marketing moments for our artists that help to build the artist world and highly engaged audiences
- Lead on taking ideas from inception to execution, managing the deliverables on time and within budget
- Oversee the brand identity of our artist campaigns, focusing on clear creative identities and artist storytelling
- Seek creative opportunities and a “content first” approach outside of the everyday classic tentpole moments of a marketing campaign
- Have a broad network of references and contacts across fashion, sport, art & design
Be Strategic
- Build and project manage campaigns with paramount attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of when things need to move and why. Across every area of an artist campaign/journey across marketing/social media strategy/promotions/ live, all should support and elevate one another - it will be your responsibility to drive and communicate this with urgency
- Set objectives and campaign goals; have a clear and agreed focus on what the campaign team are working towards. Regularly review and set KPIs
- Demonstrate your experience of working on globally facing artist campaigns with bespoke and nimble decision-making
- Diligently manage budgets on each of your campaigns with a key focus on expectations and length of a campaign
Be Analytical
- Apply critical thinking to each stage of the campaign; is this working to meet our objectives; is this connecting with our target audience; what is the data telling us and how does this help to inform our next move
- Utilise reporting systems, UMG software tools and data points to regularly assess performance
- Remain curious and stay up to date with competitor campaigns, market developments and emerging trends
Be Collaborative
- Develop strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders across an artist project including the Island EMI Records team, artist managers, central UMG departments and freelance consultants
- Over-communicate and continuously relay campaign specifics to all stakeholders across an artist project
- Create time and space for ideation sessions with other departments to troubleshoot campaign holes
Person Specification
- Proven experience project managing award winning or chart topping domestic artist marketing campaigns
- Proven authoritative knowledge of charts, trends, and artists
- A broad network of contacts
- An understanding of multiple genres is ideal.
- Ability to identify and nurture artist talent
- Be a creative and critical thinker. Take ideas from ideation to fruition
- A keen eye for engaging short form content and digital campaign moments with a proven track record of building the week by week content strategy alongside audience team members
- Have strong knowledge of the streaming space and playlisting, fundamentally on Spotify and Apple Music, Amazon & YouTube services
- Experience of working with acts of various sizes and budget
- Experience of effectively managing budgets on own projects and maximising profits
- Excellent relationship-building and relationship-management skills with the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and outstanding presentational ability
- Successful experience in negotiating with artists, artist management, internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Experience instigating and managing photo shoots and video shoots, including managing budgets, briefs and contracts
