Position Description:

Research, design, develop, and successfully implement magnetic products and technologies. Perform magnetic circuit design analyses to support new product design. Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers through each phase of the product design and development process. Support global operations for the testing and qualification of magnets and magnet suppliers.

This position may be based at either the Eriez office in Erie, PA, USA or Cardiff, Wales, UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a working knowledge of permanent magnet and electro-magnet circuit design as it relates to Eriezโ€™ magnetic separation products.
  • Develop the ability to construct 2-D and 3-D magnetic models of new and existing magnet circuits using Siemens MAGNET FEA software.
  • Develop hands-on mechanical skills to safely handle, assemble, disassemble, test, and troubleshoot magnetic equipment in both the lab and in the field.
  • Develop a working knowledge of lab test equipment and data collection software.ย  Reduce raw data into well written reports under normal supervision.
  • Apply engineering principles, techniques, and calculations to new components and systems under normal supervision. Perform the necessary engineering calculations to ensure reliable operation in the field.
  • Present project progress reports to R&D and corporate management.
  • Provide technical presentations to global audiences at various off-hours to accommodate other time zones.
  • Support global operations for the testing and qualification of magnets and magnet suppliers.
  • Support manufacturing and production teams by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor under normal supervision.
  • Travel internationally as required and work occasional overtime when necessary to ensure that deadlines are maintained.
  • Bachelor's or Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent engineering field.
  • College graduate to three years of experience in magnetic circuit design.
  • Good analytical background with the ability to apply engineering principles and techniques to solve a variety of problems under normal supervision.
  • Familiarity with advancements in magnet technology and materials is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Coding skills are a plus.
  • Ability to learn how to design permanent magnet and electro-magnet circuits.
  • Ability to learn how to construct 2-D and 3-D magnetic models using Siemens MAGNET FEA software.
  • Hands-on skills to conduct laboratory testing and to safely handle, assemble, test, and disassemble prototype magnetic equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Willing to travel internationally as required and to work occasional overtime when necessary to ensure that deadlines are maintained.
