Senior Marketing Strategist

Someoddpilot
Full-time
On-site
Chicago, Illinois, United States
$75,000 - $100,000 USD yearly

We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Strategist to join the advertising-focused marketing practice within our creative studio. This is a true “glue” position that requires deep analytical thinking, cross-functional collaboration, an obsession with results, and above all, creative vision.

The focus of this position will be to develop digital strategy for brand and product campaigns across key accounts. You’ll initiate projects by working with the account lead to translate the client ask into a detailed creative brief and onboarding the wider internal team. Blending your channel expertise (primary: digital, social, secondary: experiential, PR, trade) with your research skills (positioning, primary/stakeholder interviews, market analysis, consumer insights, cultural trends), you’ll pitch innovative ideas and build effective campaign frameworks that meet KPIs and amplify the creative. A good handle on data and analytics is paramount for tracking and reporting results, identifying areas for improvement, and optimizing campaigns.

The role requires being very comfortable working directly with brand marketing teams and their roster of specialized agencies (media, PR, experiential, etc). You’ll cover multiple accounts and play a key role on pitches, and will have evergreen internal marketing responsibilities for Someoddpilot’s digital and social channels.

Our client roster currently includes consumer brands in the apparel, outdoor / sports, spirits / CPG, pet care and tech spaces, so familiarity with any of these verticals or associated target consumers would be ideal.

At Someoddpilot, strategic & creative work is a team sport, and practice is held in-person. In the agency’s 25 years of existence we have found that this is the best way to clear a high bar of excellence, and makes the work wayyy more fun. We’re together at our studio in Wicker Park Tuesday-Friday, 9am-6pm; Monday is currently remote and mostly set aside for planning / admin / organizational tasks. We also have floating remote work days. If you’re itching for a remote role, this is probably not the best fit.

Experience: 4-7 years in a strategic planning role, ideally (but not exclusively) at an agency.

Case studies should contain examples of comprehensive marketing and advertising campaigns (insights, planning, execution, and results). We'd love it if you highlight your creative thinking!

Salary range: $75k-$100k

Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors including experience, qualifications, and level of responsibility.
